In this Chapter we’re following young Miss Elsa Dowsey on her new adventure into adult hood..  Our adventure starts off after Elsa leaves her small country town, and arrives in Sunset Valley, with little more then a suitcase of clothes and a heart full of dreams.. But I think we should let Elsa take it from here..

Well of course you -should-. This is after all, my story. *Ahem* Well what can I say? I’m young, I’m beautiful, intelligent. And out on my arse.

After my parents ever so gently nudged me out the door of my family home, I took it upon myself to start a new life, in big old Sunset Valley.. Hooray! Independence finally! I mean, how hard can it be to live by myself? No rules, no parents, no worries?

Pfftt. Only if it was like that. Sadly the only thing I have nothing of is simoleans … yet.

Today I got a call from a friend of the family, letting me know that there was a good job opening! I was so excited I accepted before I even realised what that job was. But I didn’t care! It was MONEY!Screenshot-72

Well. You did find out after though, didn’t you?

Yes …

Going to tell them? Or should I?

URG! Fine. It was … a Papergirl route. BUT! I didn’t stay in -that- position for long. I spent most of my free time at the library, working on my writing skills to prove to the boss that I was something more!

Screenshot-23

The boss saw my true potential and I was promoted to Freelance Writer! WOO!

You do realise what -freelance- means, yes?

YES! Of course I do.. But with my new found pow~ahh job, I could now ask people nitty gritty details about themselves and get away with it.

As well as rummage through their rubbish..

That was -one- time and it was for a very important story.. But anyway! I also found out another useful nit-bit about my new job.  It was easier to find a partner.

I was alone at the library when a tall and … well … pale stranger walked in, he was kind of cute in that, jerky, kind of way. Our eyes met across the room, and I knew that it was now or never, so I pulled out my trusty notepad, and sauntered over.

“Well … um hi there. I’m new to town and new to my job, and I was wondering if I could do an interview with you.. Perhaps?

“Ah sure thing! Anything for a pretty girly like you!”

Screenshot-3 (2)

So the interview went on and on.. this guy was AWFUL. He didn’t just look like a jerk, he was one.

A mooch, innapropriate, commitment issues! Urg. This was a waste of my time..

“Not going to write anything bad about me, are ya? Hawhawhaw… Say, can I get your number?”

So I take it you didn’t give him your number then?

Oh no. I did. A girl has to have contacts, you know?

But after he left, I was once again alone, and I got to thinking. My place is pretty empty.

Yes. A single bed in your whole house is a bit -empty-

Oh hush! So living life on a low income doesn’t furnish a house.. But my good old quickie 5 finger discounts from the library sure padded my wallet. Of course I went incognito, dressed in my work clothes. Hey ~ I do have to keep my identity secret, ya know?

Screenshot-5 (2)

I made out with a pretty good stash. A computer, a couple of lamps, a -really- expensive chair. I made enough money selling it to get my bathroom and kitchen finished! I was really starting to make it.. Even if it wasn’t by the book.

I also stopped by the gym. Now my life is filled with music!

You stole a CD player.

Yes. Yes I did.

Screenshot-6 (2)

I was feeling rather good about my self and my new life. I had a quaint little home, a decent job, now all I need is a man..

Screenshot-35

And as the sun rises, our young foundress falls off to sleep I cannot help but wonder will Karma catch up to our little klepto?

Will she find someone to love?

Or will she fall into a never ending black hole of despair?

*Sigh*

The first chapter was really well made, and delightfully written. My only criticism is that it was a tad short.
